The Lightyears: Acoustic Session
The House and Milky Films worked with pop band The Lightyears to produce a series of videos aimed at raising the band’s profile on YouTube and extending the band’s reach globally.
The Powder Keg sessions really worked to show off the band's acoustic roots. The team were very professional and great to work with.
The Lightyears
What was the problem?
The Lightyears have a sizeable international fan base who were keen for new music from the band. In between albums, the band decided to film a selection of contemporary cover songs and needed a production team and great location to film in.
And how did we solve it?
After establishing Power Keg Diplomacy in Clapham as a location we worked with the band on space design, mise-en-scene and lighting. We worked with the band’s own audio production team to create a fully live recording / filming environment where songs could be filmed and recorded in single takes. The meant that the quality of both the music and the video was consistently high and the band could perform the songs naturally with no layering up.
The Results?
In a single day’s shooting we filmed four music videos and three reading’s from keyboard player Chris’ Lightyears novel Mockstars. The videos have been viewed over 100,000 times online and have been particularly popular in Turkey where they have been shown on national TV.
