Sanyo
Sanyo asked us to create an online competition microsite for schools in the UK and Germany to upload new music and songs via their new Xacti Sound Recorder. The competition lasted for three months and resulted in hundreds of entries and votes in both countries. The winning entry claimed thousands of pounds worth of equipment for their school.
Working with The House London team was a joy - when we asked them to design a music competition microsite, they found a strategy which made more sense and worked with the SoundCloud team to integrate the site with their database. Automatically, this opened up Sanyo to key music enthusiasts and we were able to market the Xacti Sound Recorder to them for free. All in all, an outstanding success from a branding and a PR perspective.

What was the problem?
The competition encouraged music students and enthusiasts in the UK and Germany to record their own music on the Xacti Sound Recorder and upload the results to the site. Sanyo needed a microsite which used competition mechanics to increase uptake. As we all know, successful uptake is all about making it easy for the entrant to do their thing.
And how did we solve it?
We knew we would need on-brand clean design but also need to find a clever way increasing the reach of the entries. So, instead of opting for a native audio player, we worked with SoundCloud to integrate a voting system into a SoundCloud audio player widget using their API, to maximise the reach of the competition.
The Results?
We designed and developed a solution that we knew would work best for Sanyo and the results speak for themselves – hundreds of entries from schools across the UK and Germany and a fine example of how sweet the Xacti Sound Recorder is at recording precision sound.
